NEWS FLASH!
Voluntary and Community Action Chichester District is the new name for Chichester and District Council for Voluntary Service.
Welcome to the Voluntary and Community Action Chichester District website which aims to provide information and news for voluntary and community groups in the Chichester District.
The VCACD is a local charity, working to enhance the quality of life of people in the Chichester District by promoting and supporting voluntary and community activity.
What does the VCACD do?
There are nearly 300 Councils for Voluntary Service operating in England, all sharing common values and acting as umbrella organisations for their local voluntary sector. Our key function is to develop and strengthen voluntary activity and we do this in a number of ways:
Liaison with others
We keep in regular contact with local statutory agencies – for example Social Services, Health Trusts and the District and County Councils - to promote the voluntary sector role and keep up to date with changes, new policies and events. We can then pass relevant information back to the local voluntary organisations.
Developing new services
When gaps are identified, we'll work with others to initiate and develop new services. These can be in the form of projects that run from and are managed by the VCACD or we can help with the formation of a new voluntary group giving advice and support to new groups on subjects such as writing and adopting a constitution, applying for funding and registering as a charity.
Providing Information and Resources
We welcome additions to our database of local organisations who receive news about voluntary sector issues, updates on new sources of funding and information about other events such as training courses and conferences.
At our offices in Chichester we can offer voluntary groups access to photocopying, fax, a PC, scanner, colour printer and laminator – with help thrown in if needed! We also have a small library of reference material that organisations are welcome to browse through.
