Volunteers play a vital role in our local charities and community groups, and the choice of vacancies on our Volunteer Centre books includes something for almost everyone.

Whatever the choice, you can be certain it enriches peoples’ lives and helps keep vital services running. And the time commitment need not be great – even an hour or so a month can make a difference.

Benefits of being a Volunteer:

How does the Volunteer Centre help?
It’s there to help you with choices about volunteering and to answer your questions. Matching people to roles that really suit them is important so we keep details of a wide variety of volunteer vacancies. And, to make sure you’re matched to the right one, we spend time with you, talking one-to-one, and finding out what you enjoy doing. Our interviews are completely confidential and we can tell you what to expect and talk through any concerns you may have.

Many of our volunteer vacancies can be viewed through the website www.do-it.org.uk and our regularly updated vacancy lists can be seen at your local library or resource centre and other distribution points across the district.

If you would like to talk to someone about volunteering, please contact Carol Allen at the Volunteer Centre:

Carol is often away from the office visiting volunteer access points, however the answerphone is regularly accessed and Carol will ring you back if you leave your name and number.

or, visit us during drop-in hours (see below).
